Myaskovsky, Lyadov & Rimsky-Korsakov
I spent two glorious days with cellist Raphael Wallfisch last week, recording Myaskovsky’s two cello sonatas along with shorter pieces by Lyadov and Rimsky-Korsakov for the German label, CPO. The disc will be released next year along with Raphael’s recording of Myaskovsky’s cello concerto.
This was the second time I had recording Myaskovsky’s first cello sonata (a seriously underrated work in my humble opinion), the first time being a few years ago with my dear friend and colleague Karel Bredenhorst. You can listen to that album here.
