The second Duo Verzaro album returns to the Oratorio di Santa Caterina at Cervo for the cello sonatas of Richard Strauss and Mendelssohn, with Fauré's Romance and Papillon as encores. Strauss wrote his sonata while still in his teens, and it has all the confidence of a young composer with nothing yet to prove; both works take full advantage of the church's generous acoustic.
