Delius's orchestral music reached the drawing room through two-piano arrangements made by the people closest to him. This first volume gathers six: Percy Grainger's Dance Rhapsody No. 1, Peter Warlock's Brigg Fair, Eric Fenby's A Song of Summer and, with Balfour Gardiner, the Poem of Life and Love, alongside On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring and La Calinda from Koanga. The arrangers were friends, pupils and advocates, and their versions preserve something of how this music sounded to the people who knew it first.
