With Midori Komachi (violin)

Frederick Delius was the first owner of Paul Gauguin's Nevermore, and around that friendship an artistic circle of composers and painters grew. Colours of the Heart, the début album from Midori Komachi and Simon Callaghan, takes the Delius–Gauguin story as its starting point and follows the shared inspiration outwards to Ravel, Grieg and Debussy. Highly sought after for their performances of the Delius violin sonatas, the two players explore a world of harmonic colour, and include premiere recordings of Grieg's Ich liebe dich and Solveig's Song in arrangements for violin and piano by the celebrated early twentieth-century French violinist Émile Sauret.
