Coke Concertos

Simon Callaghan's début concerto disc for Hyperion's Romantic Piano Concerto series, and the first recordings ever made of Roger Sacheverell Coke's concertos — works Callaghan dug out of the archives himself. Coke was a Derbyshire outsider who admired Rachmaninov, Bruckner and Mahler at a time when saying so did a composer no favours, and the three concertos here are the most immediately arresting music he wrote.
